Restaurant Schønnemann

Restaurant Schønnemann

As the favorite traditional Danish restaurant of Copenhagen’s best chefs, Restaurant Schønnemann opened in 1877 serving traditional Danish lunch to peasants on dark wood benches and chairs, upholstered in characteristic Olmerdug. Its traditions have not changed, where the restaurant still offers classic open-faced sandwiches, house-pickled and -marinated herring, smoked eel with scrambled eggs and chives, fried fillet of plaice on home-baked rye, and warm pork roast with red cabbage, among other specialties. Don’t miss the smoked Danish cheese served with radishes, chives and red onion, and Grandma’s apple cake served with whipped cream and red currant jelly. The organic quality of the ingredients is suburb, where the dishes are cooked to perfection and the great list of Schnapps, beers and Aquavit is the capstone to this watertight, authentic experience. Reservations are recommended.
